With the crisis on the Southern Border getting worse and worse by the day, President Trump decided to do what he had been threatening for months: he cut off foreign aid funding to the countries sending us illegal aliens, specifically Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Mexico is on notice as well.
The logic is simple. Why should we give funding to countries that are aiding and abetting these illegal alien caravans?
This also comes on the heels of major United Nations budget cuts, especially to the UN Migration Pact. As you know, this was the United Nations body that had previously worked with the Obama administration to bring more unvetted Middle Eastern refugees and illegal aliens into the United States.
When the migrant caravan needed chartered buses, this is the agency that paid for them and these are the UN officials who have been coaching illegal aliens on what they need to do and say to file fraudulent asylum claims.
This is part of Trump's America First agenda. If the UN and these foreign countries won't help the United States, then they certainly don't deserve American taxdol lars...
The GOP thought that Trump was bluffing. They never thought that he would cut hundreds of millions in aid to punish these countries.
Now that Trump has given the order, spineless Republicans are scrambling to help Democrats block the cuts from going into effect!
Remember, the reason that Paul Ryan had blocked the border wall funding is because he believed it was a better idea to increase Central American foreign aid. This plan was put together by Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX). After taking a trip to Central America, Hurd returned and vowed to use border security funding to help these foreign countries instead.
"I'm just even more convinced that [border wall funding] would be better spent with some of these existing programs, and we'd see a quicker decrease in drugs and illegal immigration," Hurd declared. "And we shouldn't be looking at reducing foreign aid into Central America because many of these programs that we're doing can be scaled and are addressing the root causes of illegal immigration."
Over the past ten years, we've given El Salvador close to 1.5 billion in aid. Today, approximately 20 percent of all Salvadorans live in the United States. Foreign aid has done absolutely NOTHING to stop illegal immigration.
Congressman Hurd worked directly with Nancy Pelosi earlier this year to increase Central American foreign aid instead of funding the wall. With one stroke of the pen, Trump just cut it all again.
Republicans are furious and working with Democrats to force Trump to disburse the aid funding as intended!
This is what America First looks like. Instead of giving away hundreds of millions and even billions to countries that despise us, Trump is using the funding to keep Americans safe.
The GOP establishment can't stand that. Their corporate donors demand more unskilled laborers. That is why the Republicans have refused to secure the border.
Trump is the first Republican to put the needs of the American people over the desires of the donor and corporate class.
Lindsey Graham is preparing to roll-out an immigration bill next week. Democrats are demanding that Graham force Trump to restore this foreign aid if he wants them to vote for the bill.
Don't let the Democrats and Republicans give your hard earned taxdol lars to the countries that are literally helping these illegal alien caravans invade the United States!
