Before we launch into today's campaign, I wanted to give you a brief update. Yesterday, 12 Senate Republicans voted with Democrats to block Pres. Trump's border wall order. We had warned that as many as 18 could have voted with the Democrats yesterday.
The turncoats were: Sens. Blunt (MO), Collins (ME), Lee (UT), Romney (UT), Murkowski (AK), Portman (OH), Rubio (FL), Toomey (PA), Paul (KY), Wicker (MS), Alexander (TN), and Moran (KS)
Make no mistake, you had an impact! You put pressure on Congress and forced 8 Republicans to stand down.
The good news is that President Trump has already announced he will veto the bill and 12 GOP defections is not enough to override his veto. The bad news is that Democrats are not giving up and have promised to keep pressuring Republicans to shut the President down.
They are also promising to take this fight to the appropriation committee to pull the rug out from under the President. This fight is not yet over. We will keep you apprised as more happens.
But blocking the border wall is only half of the Left's plan. In addition to keeping the border wide open, they want to give amnesty and citizenship to as many illegal aliens as possible.
Nancy Pelosi is rushing to put H.R. 6 to a vote, a bill to give amnesty and citizenship to literally millions of illegal aliens. And the vote is happening this coming week!
Democrats call it the "Dream Act." You see, it's their dream to give amnesty and citizenship to as many illegal aliens as possible. They know that if they can do that, they will control power in this country for decades to come...
Pelosi's Dream Act is so dangerous, however, because it is "clean." What that means is that there aren't any border security amendments or strings attached. The bill gives amnesty and citizenship to millions of illegal aliens... and that's it. Barack Obama's DACA amnesty executive order was capped at 700,000 people. Pelosi's bill would extend amnesty to millions.
No increases for border security... no reforms to the country's immigration system... no crackdown on sanctuary cities... just amnesty and citizenship to illegal aliens.
But H.R. 6 actually goes farther than that. It would also extend "Temporary Protected Status to people from Sudan, Nicaragua, Haiti, El Salvador, and a host of other countries. I have been to many of these countries. While they are far from perfect, there is no legitimate reason to extend TPS.
These people fled war, famine, dictatorships, and natural disasters decades ago. We let them in because their countries were suffering from emergencies. Decades later, their countries have recovered. They're not perfect, but not nearly bad enough to qualify for emergency asylum. But these people simply refuse to go home. There are tens of thousands of "temporary" refugees in this country still using hurricanes and earthquakes from decades ago as excuses not to go home. Pelosi's bill would let them stay and, you guessed it, give them a pathway to citizenship!
For years, we have heard Democrats and Republicans talk about "comprehensive" immigration reform. All that means is that they were going to compromise: give amnesty to illegals in exchange for reforming the system to crack down on illegal immigration. At least that was a fair compromise. Pelosi's bill, however, does none of that. It gives conservatives nothing in exchange for giving amnesty and citizenship to millions of illegals.
So, why the shift? Well, you saw it yesterday. 12 GOP Senators voted to block the border wall. Sure, some like Mike Lee and Rand Paul did it for "principled" reasons. But there were eight other Republicans that had to be shamed into supporting the President.
Pelosi believes she has the votes, in both the House and Senate, to push this massive amnesty bill through. So that's exactly what she's doing!
We were at the front lines fighting back in 2013 and 2014 when the "Gang of Eight" tried to push through Obama's comprehensive immigration bill. Conservatives across the country rallied together to kill the bill. YOU put the fear of the electorate back into the GOP and they backed down.
Pelosi is only pushing this bill because she believes she has the GOP votes to pass it. And the GOP is only supporting the amnesty and citizenship giveaway because they think you won't hold them accountable!
But you must fight back.
Democrats are fighting with everything they can to keep the border wide open because they want to give amnesty to as many illegal aliens as possible.
