The government is supposed to protect us… but when the time comes, who will protect us from the government?
The Environmental Protection Agency is charged with doing just that: implementing laws and regulations to ensure that our environment lasts for future generations. The EPA is supposed to protect us from harmful chemicals and environmental degradation. A recent study shows, however, that the Environmental Protection Agency has finally gone too far.
Barack Obama has pushed for a lot of changes during his Presidency, especially when it comes to the environment. Cap and trade, reduced automobile emissions, you name it. This President’s EPA has been the most active in recent memory.
In 2010 and 2011, Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency performed tests on live human beings without fully revealing the health risks to participants. Children and the elderly were forced to breath in diesel exhaust at levels 50 times higher than what the EPA deems “safe” for humans and the results were recorded.
These individual test subjects did sign a waiver, but the EPA didn’t reveal all of the most serious health risks and exposed participants to more pollutants than was agreed to! The Obama administration used human test subjects as guinea pigs in an attempt to further its own environmental agenda. This is disgusting and those responsible must be held accountable!
The EPA Inspector General has found that the agency failed to adequately warn participants of the long-term dangers of inhaling diesel exhaust. These participants did sign a waiver, but the “exposure risks were not always consistently represented.”
“The EPA did not include information on long-term cancer risks in its diesel exhaust studies’ consent forms,” the Inspector General’s report explained. “An EPA manager considered these long-term risks minimal for short-term study exposures” however “human subjects were not informed of this risk in the consent form.”
Let this sink in for a moment. Subjects were not informed that they were breathing in cancer-causing carcinogens because an EPA manager decided the risks were “minimal.”
It gets even worse. Only ONE of five studies actually provided information about the level of the pollutant that participants were inhaling and only TWO of five actually warned elderly participants that taking part in the study with cardiovascular disease could result in death! One 58-year old woman was hospitalized as a result of breathing in these carcinogens.
Instead of being straight forward and telling participants what they would specifically be inhaling, the EPA described the exhaust in terms of “exposure they would receive visiting major cities on smoggy days.”
This is absolutely unacceptable! If we are going to be performing experiments on human beings, then we must, at the very least, inform participants of what they will be subjected to! In every single study, participants were subjected to higher doses of exhaust and o-zone than what they agreed to!
So, not only did the EPA fail to tell participants what they were getting themselves into, but even the things that participants did consent to were administered in much higher doses!
The Left cannot blame Bush for this one. Obama’s EPA conducted deadly experiments on human beings without fully warning them of what they were getting into!
There is no doubt about it that these studies had political purposes. Barack Obama has made it known that he expects the EPA to reduce vehicular emissions however possible. The only reason that the EPA would have individuals inhale exhaust (something that is known to be dangerous) is in order to justify more environmental regulations!
But, inhaling diesel exhaust and other particulates isn’t just dangerous. It is deadly!
Former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson testified before Congress on September 22, 2011 that “[inhaling] particulate matter causes premature death. It doesn’t make you sick. It’s directly causal to dying sooner than you should.”
Here, the head of the EPA is testifying that breathing in these carcinogens causes premature death, knowing full well that her agency is subjecting participants to these conditions without warning them!
The EPA knew that breathing in these harmful chemicals causes premature death. How could the agency possibly justify running human experiments knowing that they were exposing people to deadly carcinogens?
As far as the Obama administration is concerned, the ends justify the means. As long as the EPA gets the data it needs to justify banning cars, trucks, and other pollutants, then they don’t care how many lives they ruin from testing. The good of the collective outweighs the individual right to life.
The EPA, or any government agency, simply CANNOT rule something to be dangerous only to green-light human trials. That is just unacceptable!
Either the EPA is exaggerating the effects of these pollutants in order to introduce further environmental regulations OR they are subjecting human beings to deadly pollutant for little scientific gain.
Whichever is the case, the EPA has clearly grown too powerful and Congress must perform oversight before the Obama administration kills someone in the name of “science!”
