The Left is waging a war for our children’s minds, and it is happening right now in our public schools. This propaganda war is being fought at all levels of our education system. We are seeing the same tactics put to use in the Soviet Union being used in the American public education system.
Karl Marx famously wrote that “the education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions at state expense.” Why? Well, if the government controls the education system, it can mold the minds of future generations however it wants. Now you can understand why Socialist New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is trying to get rid of the city’s charter schools.
Vladimir Lenin expanded on this principle, concurring and claiming that if you gave him “four years to teach the children… the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” Josef Stalin would ultimately hit the nail on the head with his understanding of education… “Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.”
The Left is using the education system as a weapon and all of our children are the targets!
There are essentially two ways that the Left is trying to control the education system. First, they decide who will teach the students. Second, they decide what the students will be taught.
In at least one Michigan public school district, a recently leaked teaching contract shows that “special consideration” has been given to “women and/or minority defined as: Native American, Asian American, Latino, African American and those of the non-Christian faith.” This unconstitutional program has been in place for last 30 years and non-Christian candidates have been given preference over Christian candidates. We are not talking about some affirmative action program that uses some quota system for different races and ethnicities. No, this is a direct attempt to limit students’ exposure to Christian teachers!
Thomas Jefferson famously said that the country must “educate and inform the whole mass of the people.” However, unlike the Communist leaders who sought to indoctrinate children, Jefferson argued that an educated student body is “the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.”
The preservation of First Amendment principles is under threat in our public school system, and there is no doubt that this is a result of the whitewashing of our country’s Judeo-Christian founding from the school’s history books. Instead of teaching our children that the First Amendment protects their right to practice their religious as they please, schools are reversing it and teaching children that the First Amendment provides people with the right to be free from religion.
The fact that school districts give preference to non-Christian applicants is disturbing on two levels. First of all, it is completely illegal and unconstitutional for a public entity to discriminate on the basis of religion. The idea that the government would discriminate against Christians should be a red flag to everyone!
Secondly, however, this action proves that schools would prefer that teachers NOT believe in Christ. What harm could possibly come from having a Christian teacher? Well, it would run contrary to the Left’s goals. Marx famously wrote that “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” The Left cannot afford to have children learn of the existence of something greater than themselves. The Left only cares about the collective and its needs, and an individual’s faith will only get in the way!
So, we’ve seen that the Left is trying to control who is teaching our children. Once conservatives and the faithful are weeded out, the next step in the Left’s indoctrination program is to control what the children are taught.
You might believe that these two phenomena are different, but I believe they are two sides of the same coin. The anti-conservative and anti-religion sentiments in school’s hiring procedures are also seen in the curriculum (aka Common Core).
One book, ironically called “It’s Perfectly Normal,” is designed to teach Fourth Graders to, among other things, use condoms and birth control. Why do nine and ten year olds need to learn any of this? In addition to teaching children a warped understanding of human sexuality, the book also promotes abortion to children and makes no mention of adoption at all!
This is no surprise. In every school subject, we are seeing a deliberate attempt to remove faith and morality from the curriculum.
In Civics Class, Pearson Education’s high school text book, “What Should Governments Do?” is teaching students a perverted understanding of the constitution and the purpose of government. The book lists five main purposes of government:
- “Maintain a national defense” (yes, this is actually in the constitution);
- “Provide public goods and services” (um, that is extremely limited in the constitution);
- “Preserve order…when people protest in large numbers government may resort to extreme measures to restore order” (there goes the right to assemble!);
- “Socialize the Young” (use your imagination as to what that means…);
- “Collect taxes” (better teach the children to give up their earnings early!)
Here I thought the purpose of government was to allow for individuals to meet their full potential… I guess I should have known that government’s purpose was to “socialize the youth.” Silly me…
It doesn’t stop there. Yes, the common core civics and health books are taking the straight forward approach to indoctrinating our children. However the indoctrination doesn’t stop there!
While some school subjects can theoretically be subjective and up for interpretation, mathematics is exactly the opposite. One plus one will always equal two, no matter what you do. That is one of the greatest parts of math. There is always one right answer and the rest are automatically wrong.
Common core changes all that. According to one Common Core proponent, “the accuracy of the answer is not as important as the steps you do to solve that problem.” The answer isn’t important… the journey is.
What the hell does that even mean?
I’ll tell you what it means. Like morality, math is supposed to have right answers and wrong answers. Just as moral relativism is a ridiculous concept, the same is true for people who argue that 1+1=CAT. If it is wrong, it is wrong… plain and simple.
But no, common core doesn’t work that way. Building on the politically correct tradition of “everyone gets a trophy,” common core actually requires teachers to mark answers as correct even if they are completely wrong!
Our schools are teaching our children mathematic and moral relativism. Rather than teaching these subjects as black/white, common core teaches that there are shades of grey. There’s no such thing as wrong answers.
Not only does common core make our children dumber, but it indoctrinates them and convinces them that this stupidity is acceptable! The more I read about common core, the more it infuriates me. It must be repealed!
There is right and wrong in this world. Some people succeed and some people fail. Yet, the education policies pushed by the left are teaching our children just the opposite! Mark my words, if we do not repeal these common core standards, the next generation of children will be the dumbest and most brainwashed in our history.
