President Obama has announced that he is working on comprehensive gun control, and he wants legislation on his desk next month. He wants to:
- Ban assault weapons
- Ban high capacity magazines
- Ban all private firearm sales without government permission
We don’t need gun control, we need freedom and we need to honor the rights we are guaranteed under our Constitution. Your voice is needed, now.
Obama is telling the public to call Congress “as many times as it takes” and push for gun control. That means those of us who value the Constitution need to double and triple our efforts. Please help us call and fax Congress repeatedly and make our voices heard more loudly than the liberal media types…because we know this is going to be a tough fight.
It’s tough because Members of Congress who previously have been friendly to our Second Amendment rights are skittish over the tragedy in Newtown. Like all of us, they are reacting as parents and grandparents, and they are not looking at all the facts of what happened. They just know they need to do something…so calling for gun control is their natural next step.
President Obama and his administration—as well as many of his fellow Democrats in Congress—are hostile to our Second Amendment rights. The entire Fast and Furious operation was a ploy to call for more gun control. They have been trying to sneak gun control language into various bills, and the administration is actively working with the United Nations on a Small Arms Treaty, to be finalized in March.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama would make a speech at Newtown’s memorial on Sunday night, and that he would not make it political; but, he did, and he is using the painful tragedy to justify his goal of gun control. It has always been his agenda, and now he has a big opportunity to push it through.
Obama is not necessarily acting out of emotion—he has wanted to remove our Second Amendment protections for some time now—but others are. Members of Congress, the media, Hollywood loudmouths and especially the bitter, angry Brit Piers Morgan…they are all using the nightmare in Newtown to justify taking away the rights of law-abiding citizens.
The irony and hypocrisy of the gun control Left is amazing. Texas State Democratic Party official John Cobarruvi called the NRA a “domestic terrorist organization” on Twitter and said members should be assassinated. So the gun control left is fine with gun violence, as long as it’s used on the right people?
This is an urgent alert. We cannot assume Congress will protect our rights, especially in the wake of such a terrible event. And we cannot assume that Obama will not sign away our Second Amendment with an Executive Order. We need overwhelming support right now in Washington for our Constitution and our Second Amendment.
Those in favor of gun control believe in restricting our freedom and they believe that if they “do” something, it will help ease the pain of this tragedy. But, it won’t.
“Gun-Free Zones” are a criminal’s invitation to come in and wreak havoc. If a burglar shows up at your house and sees an alarm system, or a sign on the door that says you have a gun, do you think they are still going to take the chance and come in? Or, do you think they are going to go find one of your neighbors who are not protected?
Sick people and bad people will do sick and bad things no matter what laws we pass and no matter how many regulations we put on society. Terrible, unimaginable things will happen. But, guns are used 2.5 million times a year to stop or deter crimes. Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano, a mafia member whose testimony helped convict John Gotti said, “Gun control? It’s the best thing you can do for crooks and gangsters. I want you to have nothing. I’m a bad guy; I’m always gonna have a gun.”
Criminals do not have much use for the rule of law, and they will continue to target the weakest among us unless we look at all the factors involved that contribute to their sociopathic behavior, and then we can put real, meaningful measures in place that defend us against evil but preserve the freedom our forefathers fought for.
This is a crisis situation for our Second Amendment. We must flood Congress with faxes and demand they protect our Second Amendment rights. Do not let the horror of what occurred in Newtown become President Obama’s impetus for pushing through his ultimate goal of massive gun control and confiscation.
