Are they insane? The GOP just agreed to release 7,500 illegal alien criminals from jail in exchange for just 55 miles of new border fencing.
If the latest reporting is accurate, Congressional Republicans not only just surrendered on the border wall issue, but they might be the worst negotiators in American political history.
As you remember, Democrats offered President Trump 1.6 billion in border security funding last year with barely any strings attached. President Trump turned down the offer, saying that the experts at Homeland Security said they needed 5.7 billion to effectively secure the border.
After a lengthy government shutdown, Pres. Trump re-opened the government to give Republican and Democrat negotiators a chance to hammer out an immigration deal.
We now know the details of that deal and it is the worst compromise I've ever seen.
Instead of the 1.6 billion, Republicans just negotiated for just 1.375 billion in border security funding. Yes, the GOP just negotiated an even worse deal. But that funding wouldn't all go to border barrier construction. Instead of hundreds of miles of border wall that Trump demanded, this "compromise" limits new fence construction to just 55 miles.
But that isn't even the worst part. In order to secure this pittance, the GOP cowards agreed to cut funding to ICE detention facilities. Right now, Immigration and Customs Enforcement have 49 thousand beds in their detention facilities nationwide, with the ability to stretch it to 52,000 if there's an emergency. That is the total number of illegal aliens that they can detain at any given time. The GOP just agreed to cut ICE's detention funding by 17 percent, limiting the bed space to just 40,520.
So not only did the GOP reduce the border wall funding, but they agreed to cut almost ten thousand ICE detention beds!
With friends like these, who needs enemies?
Here is what this means. The border will remain largely wide open. An extra 55 miles of pedestrian fencing would be installed, but that wouldn't all be at one location. Illegal aliens would still be able to bypass the fencing system entirely by just walking a few miles outside of the city limits.
Once across, these illegal aliens would be practically guaranteed release. Right now, there are more than 48,000 illegal aliens in ICE custody. If Republicans pass this surrender bill, Trump would have to immediately release more than 7,500 illegals and then not arrest anyone else, no matter how heinous their crimes are.
This is absolutely shameful.
The GOP leadership is so tone deaf, they are actually celebrating this surrender package as a "compromise." Not only did they agree to less border funding than was previously agreed to, but they are releasing thousands of illegal alien criminals into our society.
This is worse than we ever could have imagined. But leave it up to Republicans in Congress to find new ways to surrender to the Left...
McConnell says that the GOP will back this surrender bill and warned President Trump not to dare veto it!
The full text of the legislation is being introduced today. Congress will then start racing to hold the final votes by the end of the week.
There's no coming back from a surrender of this magnitude.
The minute this bill is signed into law, more than 7,500 arrested illegal alien criminals would be released onto the streets. All in exchange for just 55 miles of new fencing...
How much do Congressmen and Senators need to hate their country to think that this is a good idea?
If we're going to stop this GOP surrender, it has to be right now. We're out of time!
