Over the past few weeks, the Obamacare website has served as a sort of metaphor for the Affordable Care Act itself. Now estimated to ultimately cost the taxpayers $1 Billion, the Obamacare website has been a train wreck from the beginning.

The Obamacare website continues to crash every day and lacks some of the most basic security features. To top it all off, this week we learned that the administration hasn’t even gotten around to building the 40% of the website that manages the payments and transactions!

The American people don’t want this law, they can’t afford this law, and they can’t even physically buy into this law if they wanted to!

Tell Congress to stop arguing about the website and just repeal the law already!

I realize that the website is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this atrocious law, but it is a stark warning of what is to come if the Affordable Care Act is allowed to remain on the books. Yes, most of the policy aspects of socialized medicine are atrocious in and of themselves. But there is another aspect to opposing this law. Even if the policy was fool proof and good (which it’s not), the government simply does not have the wherewithal to actually run the healthcare industry - essentially 1/6 of the U.S. economy.

We, the taxpayers, gave the government $600 Million dollars and three and a half years to build a website. That’s it… a website…

They couldn’t even do that! They launched a patch-work website that crashed more than it ran, and promised that they would be able to fix it by November 30. By all accounts, the administration failed to live up to its own arbitrary deadline. Now, with the price tag for the website approaching $1 Billion, it still doesn’t even work!

After two months of supposed round-the-clock maintenance, the only thing new about the Obamacare website is the following warning at the top of the page:

“During times of especially high demand, you may be queued to begin your online Marketplace application to ensure the best possible shopping experience.”

Wait a minute… I’m confused. Is this a website or a deli counter? The whole reason to use the website is that the process is supposed to be nearly instantaneous. This may be the first website in history that makes its visitors wait in an imaginary line. So this is what the “best-of-the-best” came up with? Telling visitors to take a number?

Even if you wait in line, get through, and are allowed to shop for health insurance, we learned this week that there isn’t even a system set-up for you to pay for it. To go back to the deli analogy: imagine waiting in line for an hour to pick out what you want to buy, only to learn that there isn’t even a cash-register, so you can’t actually buy it.

It is so infuriating to have to watch the Federal government fail to accomplish the simplest of tasks, time and time again. Enough is enough!

Tell Congress to repeal Obamacare NOW!

In a speech this week, President Obama promised his supporters that as long as he is President, he would never repeal the Affordable Care Act. It seems the President is just as arrogant as ever.

Our founding fathers and past presidents warned of this. In one of his earliest public speeches, a young member of the Illinois House of Representatives named Abraham Lincoln warned that the true sign of tyranny is a leader who cannot find “gratification …in supporting and maintaining an edifice that has been erected by others.” Lincoln worried that self-interested leaders, driven only by their ambition, would seek to make a name for themselves, even if their policies were redundant, illogical, or detrimental to society. The Obama administration is a textbook example of this! Obama didn’t write the law; he only signed it. But somehow it has become this President’s signature achievement that he passed a socialist healthcare law when Democrats controlled the entirety of government. Wow… what an accomplishment </sarcasm>.

Barack Obama is so fixated with keeping his namesake legislation alive that he is completely ignoring the fact that it is an utter failure. The Obamacare ship is sinking, but the President is promising his supporters that it will magically stay afloat.

Unfortunately, sometimes you have to head for the lifeboats, abandon ship, and just be thankful that you’ll live to see another day. If the President wants to go down with the ship, that’s his prerogative. But it will be repealed!

How do I know? Because the polls are consistently showing that the vast majority of Americans hate this law and desperately want it repealed. The Democrat Senators realize this, and they are dreadfully afraid that WE THE PEOPLE will hold them accountable for this atrocious law and replace them with someone who will repeal it next November.

But this country cannot last a year under Obamacare. We cannot afford to wait until November.

We must force Congress to hear the cries of the American people and finally repeal the Affordable Care Act!

Fax Congress now!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
