Fellow Conservatives,
Like clockwork, the gun control advocates have come out of the woodwork and taken advantage of another tragedy to push their agenda.
But the tragedy didn’t happen here in the United States. It didn’t even happen on our continent.
Terrorists posing as refugees used smuggled fully-automatic weapons (illegal) to murder close to 130 people in Paris (also illegal).
And now, apparently, it’s time for more gun control in the United States? It’s pathetic.
But unfortunately, the gun control advocates may have found their angle. According to the Government Accountability Office, more than 2000 people on the terrorist watch list have been allowed to legally purchase guns in the past decade.
When I first saw that, I was shocked. But then, I started thinking about the implications.
The Left wants to give the Federal Government the power to suspend an individual’s Constitutional rights simply because they are suspected of planning a crime. They want federal agents to stop you from buying guns, or even take your guns away, without due process.
Realize, that’s what this is. This is a push to give the government near unlimited power to suspend Constitutional rights. People who are added to terror watch lists aren’t notified of this and they have no way of disputing it or being removed from the list. Do you trust the government with this power?
It’s really simple. The Federal Government already has the power to stop suspected terrorists from buying guns: charge them with a crime, put them in jail, and convict them.
But no, the Left wants to give the Obama administration the power to suspend someone’s Constitutional rights without even charging him or her with a crime.
That is what is at stake.
No one wants terrorists to be able to buy guns. But Benjamin Franklin was right. Those who sacrifice their liberty for a little bit of security deserve neither and end up with neither.
Why is it whenever a terrorist strikes, the first conversation is about limiting our Constitutional rights? And why is it that the GOP just rolls over on this?
Democrats are putting Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan on the spot. They are demanding a vote on this legislation and GOP leadership is caving in. They are actually going to give in on this. Unacceptable.
The Democrats’ new motto has become “don’t let a good crisis go to waste.” They’re now using international terror attacks to push domestic gun control and the Republicans are going to let them stomp all over the Constitution.
The question is, are you going to let them?
Are you going to let them give the Obama administration even more power to suspend Constitutional rights?
Or are you going to stand and fight?
I choose the latter and I hope you will too!
Don’t let them get away with this! Tell Congress to STOP this new attack on the Second Amendment!
