What is happening in Ferguson, Missouri is a tragedy. That is the only way I can really describe it.

And the really sad thing is that I blame both parties for what is going on.

Time will tell the circumstances behind the police shooting that claimed young Mike Brown’s life. Right now, I don’t know who to believe. Bystanders claim that Mike Brown was unarmed and surrendering himself, but the police department is claiming that the unnamed officer who shot Mike Brown was merely defending himself.

The one thing I do know is that this tragedy has grown far out of control.

What started as a peaceful protest against police brutality has now devolved into violent riots and whole crowds of people vandalizing and looting stores.

And what started as a normal police response has devolved into a militarized invasion of the town by camouflaged officers riding on military armored vehicles and using machineguns and sniper rifles to intimidate civilians and journalists.

In a world where we are conditioned to take a situation and choose who are the good guys and bad guys, I am having a hard time differentiating…

I look at the protesters committing arson, destroying property, and looting stores and I say to myself, “that shouldn’t be happening.”

I look at the FAA prohibiting news helicopters from covering the protests, police arresting journalists for no reason, and officers firing tear gas at news crews trying to film what is happening and I say to myself, “that shouldn’t be happening.”

But I look at the fact that the United Nations is holding hearings about the Ferguson, MO protests and accusing the United States of violating the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD) Treaty and I say to myself, “this absolutely should NOT be happening!”

In recent months, the United Nations has attempted to meddle in the United States’ domestic affairs far too often. First, there was the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty, which Barack Obama instructed John Kerry to sign even though the Senate refused to ratify it. Then, just weeks ago, the United Nations announced that it had begun looking into ways to reclassify America’s illegal aliens as “refugees” to stop us from deporting them.

Now, we are learning that the United Nations is holding hearings on whether the United States broke an international treaty by killing Mike Brown and disproportionately responding to the protests.

Here’s an idea: instead of allowing the United Nations to govern over us, how about we defund the damn organization and kick the U.N. out of New York City!

The U.N. has meddled in American affairs for the last time! Tell Congress to defund the United Nations immediately!

I wanted to spend today focusing on out of control government and protesters, but all that takes a back seat to the United Nations’ attempts to control what goes on in this country.

Yes, we have problems that need to be fixed, but they are OUR problems.

However, the NAACP is off lobbying the United Nations to have them intervene in the matter.

The U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has been grilling the United States on it “racism,” arguing that U.S. violates international treaties with the way African Americans are treated.

Noureddine Amir, the committee’s vice chairman, said that he “understand[s] that these disparities arise from factors such as subconscious racial bias in shootings, the proliferation of Stand Your Ground laws and the existence of predominantly African American and economically depressed neighborhoods with escalated levels of violence”

Did you see that subtle reference to American gun owners and Stand Your Ground as one of the factors leading to African American subjugation?

According to the United Nations, being able to defend yourself in public is racist. This is no surprise given the fact that the organization’s goal is complete civilian disarmament!

The fact that the U.N. is even holding hearing about this is ludicrous!

The U.N.’s meddling in American affairs ends today! Every year, the United States pays BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to fund the United Nations. Without us, the U.N. wouldn’t be able to pay its bills.

Yet, we pay the U.N. all this money only to have it turn around and work against everything that it means to be an American! They go after our gun rights, after our right to secure our border… and now they are getting involved in the alleged “racism” behind Stand Your Ground incidents.

I’m done! I am done allowing my hard earned money to be used to fund this atrocious organization!

Together, we can ensure that not only does the United Nations not have enough money to operate, but also it would have to leave the United States entirely!

The U.N. has meddled in American affairs for the last time! Tell Congress to defund the United Nations immediately!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
