Dear Conservative,

They say that rabid dogs stop barking just before they bite. Well, the gun control lobby has been too quiet for too long.

Just last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the issue of domestic violence and gun ownership. Domestic violence victims testified on the issue and demanded that Federal law be strengthened to prevent domestic abusers from arming themselves.

Now, at first glance, this seems like a pretty common sense issue. Someone convicted of domestic violence should definitely NOT have a gun.

The only problem is that the Democrats’ plan doesn’t involve people convicted of domestic violence… they want to take guns away from people who were merely accused of committing domestic violence.

Do you see the difference? One way involves a court of law and a jury of peers determining that you are unworthy for gun ownership. The other way involves nothing more than an accusation! Senate Democrats actually want to give law enforcement the authority to seize your firearms based on nothing but he-said, she-said!

Defend the 2nd Amendment! Tell Congress to STOP the Senate’s gun confiscation bill!

We have seen many politicians introduce bills like this in the months following the Santa Barbara killing spree. I call it a killing spree, and not a shooting spree, because the self-interested maggot stabbed his three roommates as well.

The term that arose out of this tragedy was what gun-control advocates called a “gun violence restraining order.”

The idea of a gun violence restraining order is that if friends and family become concerned that an individual could do harm with his or her firearms, they can direct the police to intervene.

There doesn’t need to be evidence of a crime or even an admission of guilt. All it takes to disarm Americans in the Democrats’ opinion is one person calling the police.

Apparently, the Second Amendment is so fragile that one concerned citizen can cancel out your Constitutional rights!

Gun violence restraining orders have been proposed in California, New Jersey, and countless other starts behind the gun control iron curtain. In Massachusetts, the state legislature passed a bill that will give police the authority to deny would-be gun owners for no reason whatsoever! Seeing how the Boston Police Chief is on record saying that no one needs to own a rifle or shotgun, you can expect for this denial power to be used regularly. The problem is that there is absolutely no due-process in any of these systems and they arbitrarily restrict gun ownership without any evidence!

Well, now the Senate is taking up a similar piece of legislation directed at domestic violence.

Now, no one supports domestic violence, which is why gun control advocates are taking this approach. They love to frame gun control in a way that makes opponents look callous and out-of-touch.

“Like your AR-15? Obviously you don’t care about the children!”

“Want to keep your guns? Don’t you care about domestic violence victims?”

The problem is that domestic violence doesn’t mean what it used to mean. If the Democrats get their way, an individual can have his or her guns confiscated if he or she so much as shouts at a significant other.

That is why the NRA has come out in opposition of this law. Not because they support domestic abusers, but because the law has enough holes to justify firearm seizures in almost ANY circumstance!

The Democrats are going to try to frame this to win over the public. They are going to parade domestic violence victims into Congress to testify on behalf of their legislation.

But no amount of theatrics can change the fact that this is a bill designed to confiscate firearms without due-process and based on nothing but hearsay!

The Second Amendment reads that the “right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This is a textbook example of infringement and we must stop it now!

Defend the 2nd Amendment! Tell Congress to STOP the Senate’s gun confiscation bill!

Sincerely,

Joe Otto
