Dear Conservative,
We live in the United States of America… I feel the urge to start with that statement because everyday, this country looks less and less like the one that I grew up in.
While the standard language in this country is English, we have always been aware that immigrants would come here only being able to speak their native tongue.
At times, we have been overly generous and have allowed for government documents to be translated in order to ease the transition for people just coming to this country. But there is still the need for immigrants to learn English.
That is how it has always been. People come here and are forced to learn English if they want to succeed and earn a living. I am hard-pressed to think of a way to make it in this country without first learning English.
We all know what is going on at the Southern border, with tens of thousands of illegal immigrants attempting to take advantage of our generosity and gain legal residency here as “refugees.” Even the Democrats have begun calling them refugees instead of illegal aliens. These people aren’t coming here with the goal of assimilating into our culture. They are coming here with the warped belief that they deserve assistance because of the sheer fact that they exist. You and I know that is completely ridiculous!
However, a story broke just before the July 4th holiday that absolutely got my blood boiling…
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a federal agency within the Obama administration, is suing a Wisconsin plastics company because – you might want to sit down for this – the company fired employees who don’t know how to speak English.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employers from discriminating on the basis of “race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.” The Obama administration, however, is attempting to rewrite a law drafted FIFTY years ago to include “language” as a protected characteristic.
This is what the Obama White House does best: if it doesn’t like a law, instead of going through Congress, the President just has his underlings rewrite it all together!
If someone comes to this country, they should learn English. There is no mandate that they be forced to speak English, but if they have any hope of succeeding and earning a living, learning English is a must.
Instead of protecting businesses and helping them actually turn a profit in this horrific economy, the Obama administration is going after companies to force them to employ people who can’t speak any English!
This President is doing everything in his power to fundamentally transform the United States of America. You see the “fruits” of this labor every day.
I fully support LEGAL immigration and if an immigrant refuses to learn English, that is completely fine… no one is forcing them to.
But I will be damned if I, as a business owner, will be forced to hire and employ someone who can’t physically communicate with me! This country’s primary language is English, and if immigrants want to get a job and provide for their families, they should get to work learning how to communicate.
This lawsuit represents just a microcosm of everything that is wrong with Obama’s America. First, the Democrats argue that everyone has the right to come to the United States of America. Now, this White House is actually trying to force businesses to employ people who can’t speak a lick of English!
How can a business owner possibly be FORCED to communicate with an employee who never bothered to learn English? How can employees possibly be expected to work safely in an industrial plastics company if they can’t communicate with one another?
To top it all off, the administration is basing this lawsuit off of a ridiculous reinterpretation and rewrite of the Civil Rights Act. We see this time and time again with the Pres. Barack H. Obama employing executive orders and bureaucratic regulations to implement his social justice programs… This is just more government overreach from a President who never worked a real job in his entire life!
English might not be necessary to be a “community organizer,” but in the real world, competency in English is required!
I am tired of this administration pushing idealistic and politically correct policies on American businesses!
I am tired of this out of control government literally regulating companies out of business!
It is time to get the Obama White House OUT of our wallets and stop this administration from forcing businesses to comply with their ridiculous, politically correct standards!
